1976...June arrived, graduation from SSS was finally upon us. Remember the year?..... "May I have your attention, please for the morning announcements?"….."880 and 3 110's"…..one more playing of The Horse!!.....We were so glad we went to Triple S!!...
August 1975...Yep, we were seniors! Gas was about 44 cents a gallon. Those fancy Foster Grants that the stylish SSS seniors wore were about $5.00 a pair and the cars in the parking lot were pretty much in the $2,000-$3,000 dollar range. Saturday Night Live was 6 months old, we were pretty much all talking about Jaws, we wondered how Minnie Ripperton could hit such a high note, a guy named Tiger Woods was born this year and a guy named Bill Gates was writing his 1st prototype program. Closer to home, Coach Moye ran yet another lap, Mrs. Jackson prepared for yet another taxidermy session and Tommy waved around a jock-strap in a speech.
Fast forward...could it be June already? Were we really graduating? It's about time! Gas was 59 cents a gallon, we are almost ready for our nation's bicentennial (remember the red, white and blue everywhere??!!), ABBA and Barry Manilow took over for Minne Ripperton, Steve Jobs formed a little company out in California....and Coach Moye ran yet another lap.
It is time to celebrate 50 years since the "SPIRIT OF 76" rocked the halls of SSS.
Your reunion committee is planning a memorable night for the Class of 1976.
